Creating Apparmor profiles or not?

I came across Apparmor while doing some research, and here on the forum most posts seem to be fairly old.

I believe Apparmor is part of openSuse and always runs in the background. I have the impression that as such it does not protect in any way unless and until profiles have been created. Is that a correct statement?

If that is the case, creating profiles requires a good knowledge of Linux/openSuse, which is way beyond me. Do I need to worry?

Thanks for the link. Only Leap is mentioned there: do the comments apply to Tumbleweed (which is what I am on) too?

For the most part, yes. Tumbleweed might have newer features.
