Creating a new partition

I want to create a new partition and while in the process I noticed that the partitioner gives me a couple of options as a mount point. Regarding those options I have a question.

Is the following correct?

  • /local > stores all local settings there*]/tmp > stores all temporary files there*]/srv > ???

I want to create a partition and have that show up as a directory (like /home) is that possible and if so, what should I do?

Thanks in advance.

Ignore those option, put in manually whatever name you prefer:

eg: /My Music

remember the / before the name

You might be best creating the folder first in the tree. You will need to that as su.

Then run Yast Partitioner. You can also add a Volume Label that displays nicely in sysinfo. When done re-boot. You may need to edit /etc/fstab if things don’t work correctly.

Thank you, works like a charm.

A drive by comment:
/My_Music or MyMusic is better IMHO than /My Music
Spaces in paths can be a devil of a problem at times.

Driving on now
