Hello,
when I want to change theme (control center-> apparence, I don’t know the name of the application), gnome-settings-deamon crash. When I lauch “apparence” again, gnome-settings-daemon is restarted and it make X restart !
The problem has come with the upgrade 11.2->11.3
Here is the output of gnome-settings-daemon when it is restarted (when X crash)
** (gnome-settings-daemon:16223): WARNING **: Can not run apport-checkreports
(gnome-settings-daemon:16223): GLib-GObject-WARNING **: IA__g_object_notify: object class `GkbdStatus' has no property named `name'
The application 'gnome-settings-daemon' lost its connection to the display :0.0;
most likely the X server was shut down or you killed/destroyed
the application.
Thanks for your help
Try creating a new user account, just to test with.
Does the problem happen there?
No the problem does not heppen with a new user. I suppose I should remove some files from my home?
It’s nothing to do with files, as in too many. But rather config files from the old setup.
Decide if you want to try and remove the old config files, (difficult but we could try)
or transfer your user files to your new user (when done, delete the old account)
I transfered the files to the new account and it work fine! Thank you for your help
I have an other problem with themes : GDM appears like it is not themed. I don’t know how to configure GDM themes… It is also come with the upgrade to 11.3. Please tell me if some log files or other informations can help.
