Crash after pressing ctrl+shift+alt+pgdn ?

Sorry if this is the wrong place for this, I’m not sure where to post it.

I’m running OpenSuSe 13.1 on a server for large scientific calculations. I was happily coding away on an app running in an X11 window. I had previously used ctrl+shift+alt+pagedown to move a tab left or right, but when I tried to use it, my screen went blank! Monitor said it has no signal, I couldn’t seem to bring it back. So I figured it had crashed.

I figured the key combination was a coincidence, and it just crashed for another reason. But after I got the system booted back up, I tried it again without any windows or applications running, and it happened again! The fan is still running, so the system hasn’t completely crashed. The monitor just says it doesn’t see any signal, but I can’t find any way to get the system back.

So what the hell is going on here?

Is this key combination meant to do something like this? Like does it halt/suspend/hibernate the system?

I have a separate machine, some old HP box. I had installed the same version of OpenSuse, btu hadnt gotten around to using the machine for anything. I just tried the same key combo, ctrl+alt+shift+pgdn, and it did the same thing, so it seems to be something that is built into the system.

On my system, ctrl-alt-shift-pgdn leads to a full shutdown, not a crash. It is not listed as one of the keyboard shortcuts, however, as far as I can tell.

openSUSE 13.2 x86_64 KDE 14.4.8.

update:

so I looked at /var/log/messages and it seems that the key combination results in a legit shutdown, not a crash like evetsnameloc mentioned.
I’m not sure what to make of these messages.

It’s pretty scary that this makes it so easy to shut the system down. I’d really like to disable this.
