I want to use a USB DAC, creative SB1095 by default for my laptop. But after few seconds I connected it, it shuts down automatically.
And it causes a huge popping sound and it is very annoying.** I tried adding a **udev **rule **to turn off USB auto suspend like below. But it didn’t work.
Please help.
I’ve had that problem. The noises happened when ever a sound started playing and some time after they had ended. If another sound started before it had timed out no extra noises at all.
I’m running kde but assume others are using local config so edit the file ~/**.**config/pulse/default.pa and comment out the line enabling the time out.
If the config isn’t user local default.pa will be some where else.
The line to comment out reads
load-module module-suspend-on-idle
I’m using a soundblaster x-fi optical output and thought it was a change in that which caused the problem but perhaps other cards have the same problem. I couldn’t detect any change in cpu load even when sound is playing. Just the usual pulse when sound starts playing and things get set up.
