Cpufreq Driver for Intel Celeron M 530 @ 1.73GHz

I’ve had this Acer Aspire 5315 for over a year now, and I’ve just noticed that cpufreq doesn’t work. I’ve added the p4_clockmod driver to /etc/rc.d/haldaemon, but that hasn’t helped.

I’m using openSUSE 11.1 with KDE4.2

How can I get this working? The battery life is abysmal!

Battery life is more to do with the quality of the battery. Though I actually getter way better results in OS 11.1 than in Vista.

I have a 550celeron, never seen any need to have cpufreq control. Its so quiet and efficient. My box on the other hand 2 core cpu’s are managed brilliantly.

No suprises there, as there is no kernel module “p4-clockmod”.

grep CLOCKMOD /boot/config-2.6.27.19-3.2-default
# CONFIG_X86_P4_CLOCKMOD is not set

However:

I built some packages “p4-clockmod-kmp-kernel type” for openSUSE 11.1 containing the patch mentioned above.

As this is not officially supported, use at your own risk!

Thank you!

Sadly my german is far too limited to understand those forums, but thankfully, your rpm sorted me out

Oddly, for my eeePC, just adding the p4_clockmod to /etc/rc.d/haldaemon did the trick. Maybe the drivers were in another rpm…

Thank you!!!
