What games.
Native Nix games or windows games in wine or crossover?

It happens to me as well sometimes with some games. To avoid it I prefer to kill plasma-desktop task. As I wrote this is only for some games like Megaglest.

What GPU driver have You got installed ? Did You try to install the fglrx driver ?
Here is something You should read if not sure about the asnwers to the above questions :

Best regards,
Greg

if i install the official ati driver, than linux won’t boot anymore, a total system brick! >:(
NOTE: i know that because i tried it on a LiveUSB, and on an installed openSUSE

i don’t know how to install the ati driver correctly + it says NO compatible adapter found! :sarcastic:

and i play native linux games… no win, for win games i have a second laptop. i won’t install win on my main laptop!!

ATI says this
ATI Catalyst™ Proprietary Display Driver

Did you know about this:
Upgrading ATI driver with atiupgrade
Take a look at the whole thread though

I think it’s impossible to render a linux unbootable by installing a different GPU driver  unless You’re doing something wrong. Well at least I have never managed to do that and I managed to completely destroy my system more than a few times.

Best regards,
Greg

This makes my system fail to boot.
I must making something wrong.

aticonfig -inital says no compatible adapter found, i know that from my last system brick.

why no compatible adapter found, the driver support Radeon HD 3* series** (i have 3650)

EDIT: i think this is no system brick, just no X mode, i’m only in the console, why??? how to get into the X mode from console???

Strange for you

Maybe you’re just out of luck with this.

Yes this is possible  To get back your X You just need to revert to the old driver. Reading the link I gave You earlier will give You an idea on how to do this.

AMD site sure reports there are drivers for Linux for your GPU.
AMD Support Search

Please read the install instructions carefully, follow them and I’m sure You’ll figure it out.

Greg
