CPU Fan goes crazy while screensaver is active

Hi,

Running OpenSuSe 11.1 i586 GNOME on an HP Pavilion dv5035nr notebook.

I’ve been experiencing something odd. By default, OpenSuSe has a ‘blank
screen’ screensaver to go off whenever the computer is idle. Also by
default whenever the screensaver is activated the screen is locked.

I like having these features on as they are, but whenever the screen
saver is activated my CPU fan remains fully active. I fear this might be
heating up my CPU more than it should. A few seconds after unlocking the
screen are enough to automatically shut down the fan.

Has anyone encountered this issue and solved it somehow? I would
greatly appreciate the help

Andres

well my 1st guess would be that maybe Beagle is using this time to start
its work, its been known to be a cpu/hdd hog and probably the number 1
item people uninstall after an installation.

Hi,

Thanks a lot for the tip. I uninstalled everything related to beagle
except libeaglec1 (because of dependency problems with a lot of other
apps) and firefox is faster, my cpu is quieter and everything is a bit
faster.
