Counting entries on an ftp-Server

Hi,

Can one do something like ls|wc on a ftp-server? The ftp command set does not include wc.

I have uploaded lot’s of stuff to a net drive and I would like to check the completeness of the files uploaded without counting them by hand.

Cheers.

Your ftp client probably has command syntax to redirect the output of ls to a local file. You can then run wc on that.

Cheers.

I had thought of something like that myself but dismissed it as being too unlikely to be true. Will try as soon as I get home tonight.

Regards.

Connect to the ftp with mc (Midnight Commander).

You can select files on both sides, and compare.

When in doubt, use brute force.
