Counter Strike Source not working under wine

Dear Friends

I have cs s step that installs, updates automatically, & runs very well under win7.

I like to play it under wine so I did the testing.

I installed wine from Opensuse repository, and installed css.

Setup went well, after successful installation, I run game updater and it updates game automatically.

Know the thing is that when i execute the game, it fails and shows program errors.:open_mouth:

I can run Commands 2, Mame emulator, Genesis emulator, Cs 1.6 and sxe injected. all apps run very well under wine without any error.

I am stuck with cs s,:\

Please help me in this regard.

I have no drivers issues all my drivers are working well.

Prompt response shall be helpful and appreciating.

Thanks

It would help someone trying to help you if you specified what the errors
are.

Why are you using wine for Counterstrike source ?

It’s not an answer to youre questions, but I use steam and can install most games I have, on Linux or Windows.

Counterstrike source does not need wine to run on Linux.

Yes, my friend, your right.

But I got the windows setup already which is working fine under win7.

Why should I get native a linux setup from steam? when we have wine that can run CSS, I am pretty much sure.

Thanks for reply, man

I’d recommend running the native version rather than using WINE - WINE is
generally good for some apps, but if there’s a native version, the native
version is what you should use.

I don’t have the game myself; the point of my post was to suggest that
saying ā€œI get an errorā€ is not helpful if someone’s going to try to help
you. Specifying what the error is will be more likely to get you help.

But again, if there’s a native Linux version, use that rather than trying
to use a Windows version with WINE. The native version is likely to be
far more stable and usable.

I would also suggest the native version. I’m not sure how can you run WINE on an NTFS volume, on my computer, everything crashed when I tried to run them from Linux, while the games were on an NTFS volume. I think WINE does create it’s own emulated FS? It certainly creates a C : \ drive.

CSS runs badly under WINE emulators anyway. If you don’t want framerate drops, use native.

(I can’t mark something not to be a smiley?)

I has the same problem on Windows 10 and installed Nathile.

PS. I was trying to open an account on Polish forum and registration email never came…

Not sure it’s worth to setup an account on Polish forums. It must be super quiet and low volume of people.
