I am not able to log into a normal session. When I try ‘failsafe GNOME’ session, it says ‘could not find GNOME installation’ and starts a ‘failsafe xterm’ session.
In my last session (normal) I had uninstalled firefox 2.0 and insalled firefox 3.0. Nothing else I did seems to have created this problem. Please help.

With opensuse version do you use ?
Anyhow if you give in the failsafe the command startx what happens ?
In failsafe mode you can also start yast , see if Gnome is still there.
If you install Firefox 3 using yast it should not give any problem

I was stuck with 10.2 and the startx command resulted in some fatal error. So, I just chose the easier way out… I installed Opensuse 11.0. Looks good at least for now…
