I installed cosmic packages but couldn’t launch the session. When it’d be available in stable usage?
When you are not more specific about the steps you took, changes that people can help you with things you missed, did wrong or still have to do are small.
You should be able to launch it from your displaymanager’s login screen. I know the maintainer of the openSUSE packages and I know from him that the next Cosmic version is on its way to TW
So it’s already working for regular usage? I just installed not every package, didn’t find settings.

This is an important question and should definitely be answered. I have a working Cosmic session in a VM. And i installed it according the wiki instructions.
According the screenshot above, the pattern was not used but single, handselected packages. That can’t work for a full DE.
I just didn’t find the patterns-cosmic-cosmic even if fully updated few weeks ago.

I was able to install and launch cosmic but it broke my audio and audio applet sources in Plasma removing alsa.

Ok, subjective opinion on Cosmic:
- Current version looks more like gnome and doesn’t keep closed apps positions;
- KDE apps like Krusader look ugly;
- Doesn’t support KDE Wallet and my browser lost all logins.
Where do you see the difference? The blue color is slightly different, but nothing else. Left Cosmic, right KDE Plasma:
But yeah. Cosmic brings its own apps like filemanagers. Each app is developed/adapted for a DE. Krusader and Dolphin for KDE Plasma, Nautilus and Files for Gnome and so on. You can use the DE specific apps also on other DEs, but they may look odd as they are not the native app for the specific DE.
Hm, fonts, icon spaces, header, buttons/controls style and size?
Actually, Plasma had similar problems with Wayland 2 years ago.
Each DE brings its own settings, styles, default fonts, color schemes, apps, sizes and so on. As Cosmic uses another default font and Icons as Plasma, a difference is normal and expected (or else there wouldn’t be a reason for different DEs). You can also customize Cosmic to some extent. But as described above, Krusader is a Plasma app and maybe you won’t get the exact same spacing like on its native DE Plasma.
Possible to try qt6ct but maybe just need to wait for Cosmic growing organically.
