Correct corrupted bluetooth -- headphones can connect but not an output

All bluetooth is not working. I am revisiting my bluetooth problems to sort out wireless headphones not being found as outputs. I left off with “unfound firmware patch” and also " hci0: corrupted ACL packet". See below.

Need ideas on what to reinstall and how to correct.
thanks, tom kosvic

Note also: zypper shows BCM20702A1 firmware is installed.

Try the downloading the required patch with

cd /lib/firmware/brcm/
sudo wget https://github.com/winterheart/broadcom-bt-firmware/raw/master/brcm/BCM20702A1-0b05-180a.hcd

then reboot or reload the driver

sudo modprobe -r btusb
sudo modprobe btusb

Report back.

@deano_ferrari @tckosvic I suggest a review of the previous thread;
https://forums.opensuse.org/t/logitech-mx-anywhere-3s-bluetooth-mouse-stopped-working-on-opensuse/186993

As found out, the onboard broadcom device was detected/working from that output sans firmware… It was the other bluetooth dongle.

Make sure system only has one bluetooth receiver present to eliminate one or the other…

I had read that thread, but I’m responding purely on the firmware aspect as reported in dmesg output, (hence the suggestion to install the required).

Did wget reinstall. After reboot, no reply on either command.

(base) tom@mydesktop: ~ $ sudo modprobe -r btusb
[sudo] password for root:
(base) tom@mydesktop: ~ $ sudo modprobe btusb
(base) tom@mydesktop: ~ $

That is expected, (it served to reload the driver after the firmware patch install). Does the BT device work now?

Check rfkill list it may be softblocked. In our previous check running bluetoothctl then scan on show the Broadcom device seeing other devices

After previous thread, I could not identify a usb bluetooth dongle on my machine even though lsusb shows one. I think there is one bluetooth and it is the one on the motherboard. Could the mb bluetooth be included as usb device somehow. mb is asus x99 deluxe. I don’t remember adding usb bluetooth and no record of buying one. Bluetooth is enabled in the bios. lspci shows wireless but does not show bluetooth.

The on board device is reported here…

And one @tckosvic had from 2024 https://forums.opensuse.org/t/bluetooth-headphones-went-from-working-fine-to-not-even-pairing/179492

80:A5:89 is Azure wave which is likely what broadcom is using…

I thought lsusb only showed usb devices and that is what bus 003, device 002 was.

The bluetooth device still does not work and doesn’t show up in pavucontrol outputs like it used to.

It does show paired and connected in blueman

It is connected to the USB bus.

Ok, so the real issue is with audio side of the equation?

the bluetooth headphones are operable as i can play youtube on android phone and hear it with bluetooth connection to phone

Yes, I get that, but not working with openSUSE audio stack. Have you checked the profile (Configuration tab) via pavucontrol?

pactl list cards

I just noticed my wired headphones are connected. Does that negate all I just did.

Hi Tom. Please confirm the results from
pactl info | grep -i server
I just want to understand if you’re using PipeWire with ‘pipewire-pulse’ or pure a PulseAudio environment.

using alsa, pipewire, and wireplumber as far as I know.
This seems to me to be taking too much of our time. To solve it, I ordered a usb bluetooth dongle with antenna. When i get it I will disable bluetooth in bios and give dongle a whirl.
