This has been annoying me for some time. When copying files the folder to which they are being copied shows the new total of files added, but they are not displayed. It is necessary to reboot for them to appear. :\

When I copy a file to a directory:
cp aap noot/
I only get a prompt when the copying is finished. Nothing else.

From the context I’ll hazard a guess that the OP is using Dolphin or the KDE4 file dialogue which indeed, will sometimes exhibit the behaviour described. Pressing the F5 key, or (in Dolphin) clicking on View ➤ Reload should cause the “missing” files to appear.
If this is not the case, a detailed description by the OP, to the best of his abilities, of what steps he is performing on which software would help provide a useful answer.

That is exactly what I tried to get. By giving my detailed description. I hate giving advises like yours, full of “if” and “maybe” and “when not then it could be”.
And the context you see, I didn’t.
But you are welcome to answer incomplete documented questions. That is an art in itself which at that moment in time was completely lost to me

I have to disagree. Sarcasm is never a proper response to a request for assistance: it comes across as rude, patronising, and frankly childish.
Furthermore, not everyone turning to these forums for help can be expected to have a sufficient degree of computer sophistication to realise that there is more than one way of achieving a given action, or be fully au fait with forum etiquette and technical problem reporting skills. To those people, forums such as these represent the vendor of the software they use (regardless of the accuracy of such assumption) and more generally, the free software community. By putting off those users from their most accessible and probably best source of information, we are not doing anyone any favours, least of all to ourselves.
Linux related forums already have a reputation amongst the uninitiated for being unwelcoming to non-technical users. I don’t think we need to perpetuate that perception, so please let us all remember that behind every post there is a person (often lost in unfamiliar ground) and let us respect them as such.
