I am new to Linux, but I am tired of VISTA! and supposedly Windows 7 is not any better. HP is absolutely no help in converting to Linux. I use Vmware Wks 6.5 and would like to use openSUSE v 10.3 as my host operating system. Where can I get the necessary drivers for Intel GMA 4500MHD … etc for this laptop. It is a dual processor with 4gb memory. Thanks
Hi Jim, I use/ have used an HP dual processor laptop (see signature for type) with versions 10.3, 11.0 and 11.1. I installed all with no major problems. You could download the live CD and try it. Is there a reason for wanting to use 10.3?
Yes there is a reason to use SUSE 10.3. I use VMWare for software development and I see that SUSE 10.3 is the latest version that is listed for support as a Host O/S. The Vista home premium is a lot slower than I expected even though I have 4gb memory.
Forgot to include the fact that the HP dv5-1138nr runs a Intel GMA 4500MHD graphics, questions about getting the driver
I installed OpenSUSE 11.1 on an AMD dual core 64-bit HP Pavilion dv2000. No problem at one on that particular machine. It’s got NVIDIA 6150 as the graphics card, I think.
Try the liveCD/DVD of 10.3 and see how it does. You may find that all of the necessary drivers are there from the start.
I use vmware for software development in 11.1 works fine as it did in 11.0 as well

Are you using VMWare Workstation v6.5?
I’m using 11.1/64 bit and Workstation 6.5/64 bit
Workstation works fine on 11.1
One problem with modules during install but a script I found on the Fedora forums fixed it.
