I’ve been using KDE for a couple of months, but want to explore other Desktop Environments. Mainly Budgie, though it doesn’t seem like the repo holding it has updated to the latest 10.10.2. As a Linux beginner, what are some considerations when adding and switching to a new Desktop Environment? Especially in regards to KDE, will KDE-oriented software just, break under a new DE?
@ExesCarnival0891 I wouldn’t there is no Slowroll build, it currently fails (10.9.3) on Tumbleweed, 10.10.0 is sitting in the development repository (for 5 months) and never been pushed to Factory…

I’m confident that the openSUSE team will support KDE and Gnome for the foreseeable future. I’m much less confident that Cinnamon, Budgie, Cosmic and other desktops will get similar attention. I might be able to install the offbeat desktop now, but could be in trouble if a problem arises a few years down the road. Fine for experimentation, and fine for a virtual machine, but for the computer that I rely on to get work done, not for me.
