Considerations for software RAID when re-installing

I’ve been debating whether to upgrade or fresh install… I think fresh install will win as it’s been a few versions since I’ve done that.
The only thing new to me (i hope) is that i’ve added a software mirror since the last time I did an install. And, i’m using WD TB ‘EARS’ drives w/ the new sector size.
I’ve got to admit I don’t remember all the hoops I jumped through to get it running.

So, first I’ll ask about the sector size… That was an issue when formatting, but is that anything I need to worry about for the raid configuration?
And then second, how do I ‘see’ my mirror once I re-install? It’s not so nice that it will see the HDD’s in my system and recognize them as linux raid, and just add them, is it? and if not, can I save some files to import to the new system, or are there files I should look at to note the current configuration? (it’s obviously been a while since I set this up) (and by “new system” I mean new version of the OS… This is all going to be running on the same existing hardware)

Thanks for any help.

I can’t edit the post anymore, but I should mention in case it wasn’t clear, my mirror is only for data. It’s not part of the OS or my home partition or anything.
I’m hoping it will either detect them, or I just go to partitioner and add a new raid with existing drives w/out loosing data. If anyone knows, let me know if it is that simple.

Thanks again

Hi
I have mirrored RAID running here on 11.4 x86_64. I did have to get it to rescan my drives to get it to recognize them instead of trying to partition. I only have 500GB drives, but didn’t format just added back.

Thanks! Sounds like it should be easy.
I just picked up a big drive to back everything up first, too… just in case.
