Connection problems after VPN install

Hi all.

Yesterday I’ve installed kvpnc, ike (Shrew-Soft-VPN) as VPN clients to connect to the university network. ike did not work with their cisco connections, so I’ve turned then to kvpnc.
After importing the profile (*.pcf file) I’ve tried to make the connection only to notice, after half an hour, that it did not like the Firewall.

Now for the problem:

  1. After each failed connection through vpnc my network connection was mysteriously broken and had to be restarted to work again.
  2. After the successfull connection and it’s termination I can not access any pages at all. It seems like something in the name-resolution is broken, because there is no problem accessing the net through TOR - neither do I have any trouble of calling up the router-config page through the direct input of it’s IP.

So far I have cleaned out the resolv.conf file - which contained some information w.r.t. Nameservers of the university network, but that did not help.
Neither ‘ping’ nor ‘dig’ can get through if given a web adress.

Any idea what I’ve overlooked?

Ok. Problem cleared.

The resolv.conf file had thrice the vpnc header which marked it updateable only for vpnc, after deleting these lines and executing

 netconfig update -f

the problem is resolved.
