Connection dropping with ASUS USB-N13 wirelss adapter

Got a ASUS USB-N13 (revB) wireless adapter in the post today.

Works perfect with windows 7,

Trying to use it now with my freshly installed and fully updated openSUSE 13.2 install,
I have the network settings setup to use the NetworkManager service and not Wicked.

It seems to connect fine with the KDE applet, but after a few minutes a site no longer loads,
and when i try ping to for example google, i get no response.

I’ve seen a similar thread on this forum, where the solution was to install kernel-firmware package
which i have installed

Here is some output info

lsmod | grep rtl

I haven’t had to troubleshoot this type of issue for quite awhile, but some time ago the AP would “time out” the connections from the Server side. There would be “keep-alives” issued by the AP to check whether the client was still connected.

In any case, I was able to identify the problem by its entries in the syslog, I’m reasonably sure you should see the problem in your journal as well.

TSU

What log file are you referring to ? i dont often check logs, thanks for the reply.

I did find this thread that has a link to someones github that apparently has the driver without any issues

http://askubuntu.com/questions/456759/asus-usb-n13-wireless-adapter-problems-with-ubuntu-14-04

i wonder could i maybe try apply the instructions to opensuse.

installed git and then “dkms” package from X11:bumblebee repo, so i could run the script.

seemed to install fine but now in the network applet it just goes to “configuring interface” rather than connecting like it did before.
