connecting to a wireless network - live cd

Hi, I am trying out openSUSE on a live cd, but i can’t seem to connect to my wireless network router/modem - and by extention, the internet, wirelessly . I can detect our home network fine, but when i select connect, it doesn’t ask for the network password, and then fails to connect. i have gone into yast, and configure the wireless device with a dchp ip address, but still i cant connect… i presume i’m doing something wrong… can anyone help? cheers
Matthew

Do you have any type of encryption, WEP, or the such? If so did you set it up? Am I correct in assuming that, since you are using a live CD, you can connect using a different OS. If that is the case, we and rule out MAC filter. What is the output of iwconfig, iwlist, and after you try to connect, dmesg. What driver are you using? If it is on the pci bus use lspci -v and look for a section telling about your adapter. Is NetworkManager running?
Use ps -A | grep etwork to see. I do not know about anybody else, but my PCMCIA wireless card would not work with NetworkManager running, I had to kill it and use ifup and it worked great.

What is your wireless? Does it need firmware that is not available? You need to
provide more information.
