I’m relatively new to openSuse, so I’m still trying to get the hang of everything. For one, I am trying to set up a printer that I have, the Brother MFC4150. I’m not quite sure how to set it up so that I have all functionality (prints and scans mainly), and I’m unsure about where to go from here.

Start here: http://www.linuxfoundation.org/en/OpenPrinting
you should find information on installing the printer. Brother has fairly good
linux support, so look at their site also.
I am having a similar problem with a MFC-7840W and openSuSE USB.
I have Brothers drivers installed. YaST2 does find the drivers and so does cups localhost:631. The printer just shows “Sleep” on it’s display. It does work in Ubuntu and Fedora.
Yast2>Hardware>Printer is rather cumbersome. It is not intuitive obvious either.
