Connect to SMB Share in Dolphin

I have tried to connect to an SMB share in Dolphin. I have found that this only works if I have previously populated the System Settings > Windows Shares > Username and password fields.

Is this correct behaviour? I would have assumed that in the absence of supplying a correct username and password, Dolphin would prompt for them rather than simply reject the connection. In fact, I am sure it used to prompt for them?

From a Google search, it seems this might be a known bug. Has anyone else experienced it, and does anyone know of a proposed fix?

Thanks

I get prompted when attempting to view SMB shares. (I’m using the KDE version as per the KDE repos). I have nothing currently defined in System Settings.
