Conky not displaying correctly...

Hello there, first time here and I’m on my first days testing openSUSE.

Here’s a little bump I found yesterday when trying to install and use Conky and not been able to solve this issue:

The conky config that I am using is from here:

http://www.noobslab.com/2012/12/install-hgm-hudnet-conky-in-ubuntulinux.html

And it’s this one:

HGM-Hudnet-Conky (For Unity, Gnome Classic, Mate, and Others)

Thank you in advance!

At least you should tell us which version of openSUSE this is about. And maybe you can think of other information that may be of help to those who might try to help you.

Oh yea, sorry, completely forgot about it! I’m on 12.3. x86. Also I have installed the wifi version:

To install HGM-Hudnet-Conky-Wifi in Ubuntu/Mint open Terminal (Press Ctrl+Alt+T) and copy the following commands in the Terminal:

I don’t really know what else to say, really. Just followed the instructions and that popped up. All the correct fonts are installed, everything should be working fine.

I can not find the conkyrc on that site you listed. It would be easier to get help if you post the config file here rather than having me track it down.

Sure thing.

Here you go:

SUSE Paste

And the .lua file here:

SUSE Paste

Oh and by the way, hddtemp and lm-sensors are also installed in my openSUSE.

Thanks in advance for the help.

Not really knowing your knowledge level it is hard to know where to go next, this is not exactly an openSUSE specific question. Just to see where we are at Here is a bunch of questions:

Do you have lua installed on your system?
If you do have lua installed does it match what is expected from the conkyrc that is made for ubuntu?
Have you taken into account that the site where you downloaded conkyrc is gnome specific, are you using gnome?
Are these conky “widgets” known to work on other Linux systems? I mean I see where it says they work with other Distros but then all the instructions are for ubuntu or debian type systems, I would guess you will need to do some fiddling to get them to work.
