Confused with ffmpeg version

The packman version of ffmpeg seems to have dropped down to 2.8.6 from 3.1.1. Leap & Factory are still at 3.1.1.

Does anyone know if there is a reason or is it just a temporary blip?

There’s a long thread about this on the factory mailing list:

todays zypper update

The gist seems to be that some package was failing to build with ffmpeg 3, so they reverted to the earlier version.
