Configuring a printer on SAMBA

Hello,

I have a bit of an embarrassing problem. I have a small office network, where the printer is connected via USB to a computer with windows 7. So I am trying to configure a printer via SAMBA. However, the connection wizard can’t seem to find the printer. When click “Test Connection” I get this:

Domain=[XXXXX] OS=[Windows 7 Ultimate 7601 Service Pack 1] Server=[Windows 7 Ultimate 6.1]

Testing share ‘CanonPrinter’ on ‘SECRETARY/xxx.xxx.x.x’:
tree connect failed: NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED

Share ‘CanonPrinter’ on ‘SECRETARY/xxx.xxx.x.x’ does not accept print jobs (share may not exist?)

PING xxx.xxx.x.x (xxx.xxx.x.x) 56(84) bytes of data.
64 bytes from xxx.xxx.x.x: icmp_seq=1 ttl=128 time=0.352 ms

— xxx.xxx.x.x ping statistics —
1 packets transmitted, 1 received, 0% packet loss, time 0ms
rtt min/avg/max/mdev = 0.352/0.352/0.352/0.000 ms

Host ‘192.168.1.5’ is accessible (responds to a ‘ping’)

“smbclient” does locate the “CanonPrinter” share.

Can anyone offer any advice on this?

Kind regards,
Ivan
