Hello everybody.
It’s the first time I install the OpenSuse 11.2 64bits and I can’t configure the sound.
The chipset in the ASUS P6T Deluxe V2 is “ADI AD2000B”.
If I could get sound, I will try to send it throught a nVidia GT220 HDMI directly to the monitor speakers.
As I said, its my first time and I lost myself.
I was looking for instructions to install the driver but I don’t understand enougth to end the process.
(Sorry for my english traduction).
I reply myself:
First I understand that I have two sound devices: the motherboard one and the nVidia HDMI one.
Then, I first disable the motherboard in BIOS and I will try to install again.
If somebody knows anything else I would be gracefully.
Thanks.
I have an Asus P6T Deluxe V2 running on a 64-bit openSUSE-11.2, but I’ve never tried getting sound working via HDMI.
You probably need to pay very careful attention to you mixer settings. Also ensure you test with a speaker test that is a simple test and not some test that tests too many things at once.
nVida HDMI ? Is that a separate card?
Please run the following diagnostic script and select the “UPLOAD/SHARE” option, and provide here the URL that it provides:
/usr/sbin/alsa-info.sh
For example on my PC, I obtain the following:
Your ALSA information is located at http://www.alsa-project.org/db/?f=e3b15763212d412dfecde8045ebfc7d6c4c784ed
Please inform the person helping you.
and hence on my PC the link is: http://www.alsa-project.org/db/?f=e3b15763212d412dfecde8045ebfc7d6c4c784ed
Note the IEC958 controls. Those control the digital audio which I believe control the HDMI sound.

Ok, it the same card that the video card.
It has an hdmi output: video + sound.
Now, I disconnect the motherboard sound chip by BIOS and I only see the nVidia chip separate card.
I am installing again with only one sound chip (nVidia) and I explain the results when the proccess finished.
My view is this is the wrong approach. You should not have to do this.
But I’m curious to read what happens. I suspect you will no sound at all when you do this and you will be forced to re-enable sound in your BIOS and then reconfigure sound via YaST…
Thanks for the reply.
I test if the nVidia sound card could sound alone in windows and I the test was sucessfully.
As I said, I disconnect the motherboard sound chip and the test was ok.
When I go back home, I install again openSuse 64 bits.
Thanks again.
After you have your 64-bit openSUSE-11.2 installed, could you provide the output recommended to be provided in the 2nd half of our multimedia stickie?
