Right now I have very verbose messages it seems when I’m booting up. Is there a way to prevent the boot messages from appearing on the screen?

Can you give an example? Normally when booting a splash screen is up to
prevent the display of most of the messages that normally scroll by. If
you are not seeing the splash screen then that’s interesting but depending
on your configuration that could also be normal (if you’ve disabled it,
for example). It may also be normal if you do not use any GUI-ish pieces.
Having more data about your system will help.
Good luck.

I think I figured out the issue by looking at a prior post on the forum. I was receiving an undefined video mode 031xa or something. I updated the video mode to normal in menu.lst and now my boot time is about 60 seconds, which is acceptable. Prior to that it was taking at least 3 minutes.
