Conexant pci modem on OpenSUSE 11.4 x64

Hello
is there any way to setup an internal conexant pci modem?
Assuming that…

  1. linuxant free drivers are limited with NO FAX funcionality
  2. i won’t buy linuxant license, i have a old serial modem, at least i can use that…
But i’ll be more happy if i can use the pci one

Thannnks alot!

Most older Modems are stated “Designed For Windows”.They are not supported by Linux.I also had an internal PCI modem but couldnt get it to work. However new external modems works great with Linux.Or you could disassemble its drivers and write it yourself.

What do you mean by “new external modems”? usb modems? can you tell me a brand that really works?
