I’m thinking since I don’t use all those 3d effects, etc and see no need
for them since I’m usually just editing photos, music listening and
movie watching among other productive things.
And see no need to keep Compiz or Emerald. If I remove it all will the
system still live with no issues?
Compiz is not like something your SUSE can’t live without, it really
just an enhancement, but they do mention that it could cause some
damage. I wouldnt do it, unless I really need to get rid of it because
of any reason, but once again, I would just leave it be, and not use it
or w/e.
Btw, do you have Compiz Fusion ? Simply because they say it could
damage system really badly >:(

It should be fine. I have 11.1 running in a VM with no compiz and it
seems perfectly happy.

Yeah and if wishes were horses we’d all be eating steak.
This is what’s listed in the installed section when I look up compiz…
So if it’s best just to leave it, I shall. But I’m gonna need to
repartition my drive to make more room for software to update, etc.
You’ll be fine if you remove all of those. Nothing outside of compiz
itself will be affected.*
Though I question whether doing so will buy you enough free space in
the long run. Even if you remove them, you may need to resize
partitions later. Don’t read this as an argument to not remove them, it
is safe to do so.
*some other applications, like gnome terminal, use a compositing window
manager to provide transparency. They’ll still work without it, but the
effects won’t be exactly the same.

Nah, not a huge fan of KDE, it’s nice. But I like Gnome personally. I’ve
had KDE on Mandriva before on my formerly running laptop which met the
scrap pile recently.

It’s removed in my VM. No ill effects that I have seen.
