Hello, I installed opensuse 11.0, and I have been experiencing a lot of problems with compiz. When I hit the x, minimize and minimize buttons in the top right corner of an application they do not always respond.
Opensuse also does not have the capability to handle some games graphics. For example even a simple game like lbreakout has a great deal of lag in it.
Does anyone know if compiz will be coming out with a fix anytime soon? These bugs make opensuse almost unusable…
Hi
No worries here running compiz (all the bells and whistles turned
on) with Gnome and Nvidia GPU. Sounds like a hardware issue. What are
your system specs and desktop?

I’ve certainly seen this issue with KDE 4 + compiz. If that’s what
you are using, I recommend going to KDE 3.5.

Hard to say… you need to provide more info about your GPUs, and such.

About the only fix that I know about (and I’m not saying that the fix
actually exists anywhere) is one for adding vblank suport… this
supposedly helps with the 2D tearing problem.
ok I installed kde 3, but when I boot up suse, it doesn’t ask me for a login it just boots into kde 4. How would I setup a login screen, and then switch to kde 3?

In the KDE4 setting there should be something (Sys Admin/Session???
Login?? Somewhere…) for turning off Automatic Login for your username.
Then you’ll have a kdm login panel (I would think) and can change
the session type you want to use for that login.
