I have a ATI HD 3870 video card installed on opensuse 11, KDE 4.1. I was able to install the video driver by the following command:
sudo bash ati*.run
I followed the on screen prompts and as far as I could tell it installed as the glfrx driver loaded properly and catalyst control center(CCC) worked as well when launched. Also tested the glxgears to verify I had 3D enabled, and it worked well. I have dual monitors and was using big desktop option.
Here is my main problem, when I enabled compiz in the advanced settings menu in the configure settings app from the launcher, all heck broke loose when I restared my computer.
Now the login screen is garbled, but I still can manage to login into suse. My second monitor which was working is no longer working and retains the artifacts from the garbled login in screen. Also yast2 still says 3d acceleration is enabled, but I am unable to configure anything in that screen, if I do then my screen goes blank.
One final note CCC no longer will launch for me to disable dual monitors, it says the graphics driver is not installed, but ‘my computer’ says that glfrx is installed and working.
If I could get any help with this situtaion it would be greatly appricated.
Thanks in advance!
