Compiz Fusion

My settings save, but compiz doesn’t start automatically each login. Is
this normal?

A: Because it messes up the order in which people normally read text.

Hi, I’m not sure about Gnome but if you use KDE do the following:

KDE 3:
kcontrol → KDE components → Session Manager → set Compiz under Window Manager.

KDE 4:
systemsettings → Default Applications → Window Manager → under Default Components select “Use a different window manager” and choose Compiz.

Thanks for the help, unfortunately, under default applications (kde4), I
don’t seem to have the window manager option.

You have KDE 4.0 or 4.1?

Check if Window Manager is there in systemsettings → Advanced tab → Session Manager
