Hey guys!
I’ve tried to install Compiz Fusion without success on a 2.6.27.21-0.1-default kernel.
So… what happens? Well, while the nvidia drivers are all correctly set up, Compiz refuses to install without dependency errors and leaves out fusion-icon as well.
Any hints on this are HIGHLY appreciated.

With “hints” I meant ADVICE and not just a “jeez… just google it”. Would you please post a link to a description/post instead? Thanks.

Haha good one FeatherMonkey.
Hate to say it TheMask, but he’s right. I’ve gone through this whole spiel way too many times. What are the conflicts that you get when you try to install Compiz-Fusion?
Take Care,
Ian
Hate to say it, hm? Just another human.
Conflicts are: http://img149.imageshack.us/img149/6427/issue1.jpg
TheMask.***
Haha you didn’t find it because it’s in a different language.
You’ll want to choose
[X]compiz-0.7.8… nicht installieren
[X]compiz-kde4-0.7.8… nicht installieren
And you should be good.
Unless there’s more than just those two conflicts? I saw you could scroll down further, so if there are more than just those two conflicts you’ll have to post those as well.
Good Luck,
Ian
Thanks for helping. STILL, installation was only partly successful. fusion-icon could not be installed… and that makes everything else WORTHLESS.
Oh, almost forgot: There were no further errors. Please not that I am using kernel version 2.6.27.21-0.1-default.

Double non-sense:
a) compiz-fusion works perfectly without fusion-icon
b) fusion-icon can be installed together with compiz-fusion 0.8.2
rpm -qa "fusion-icon" "*compiz*"
libcompizconfig-backend-kconfig-0.8.2-1.36
compiz-kde-0.8.2-77.21
compiz-emerald-0.8.2-1.37
compiz-0.8.2-77.21
compiz-plugins-extra-0.8.2-1.82
compiz-emerald-themes-0.6.0-1.53
fusion-icon-0.0.1_080201-5.1
compiz-branding-openSUSE-0.8.2-77.21
compiz-plugins-unsupported-0.8.2-1.41
compizconfig-settings-manager-0.8.2-3.37
compiz-bcop-0.8.2-2.1
libcompizconfig-0.8.2-8.13
compiz-plugins-dmx-0.1.0-8.9
compiz-kde4-0.8.2-77.21
python-compizconfig-0.8.2-2.37
compiz-plugins-main-0.8.2-9.28
compiz-manager-0.0.1_git080201-58.1
And the kernel-version is of no connection at all to this issue.
P.S.
I won’t elaborate any more on that, because I chose to no longer answer somebody showing so much ignorance and so less initiative on his own in every single thread he opens.
Doesn’t matter if fusion-icon isn’t installed. Open CompizConfig Settings Manager (CCSM), then under Effects make sure Window Decoration is checked. Then click into it and find “command”. Next to that type
emerald --replace
then click back and close CCSM.
Start up Compiz-Fusion and everything should work.
Good Luck,
Ian
Whoa… half of the symbols are in a new category called “uncategorized”. Never seen it before. And how to start compiz without fusion-icon?
xgl-switch: command not found.
TheMask.
Open a terminal and type
Compiz --replace
Or if you’re using KDE4 then open Configure Desktop (Personal Settings) then under Personal choose Default Applications. Click on Window Manager and choose Use a different window manger and choose Compiz (not compiz custom).
Good Luck,
Ian
Well, it’s wrecking. Seems like it currently doesn’t work as it should. If anyone can confirm that EVERYTHING is installable via One-Click again, please let us know.

Take care,*
TheMask.
Could you please elaborate on what you mean by wrecking and not working? Such as the window decorations don’t work, or none of the plugins work or what?
Take Care,
Ian
It crashes after launching via command line. Why launching via Compiz decorator? Because fusion-icon will not install.
And even after that - nothing works the way it should.
TheMask.
The last time I had trouble (self-induced, of course), I removed Compiz completely as described in this link:
Compiz Troubleshooting - openSUSE
Then I used the 1-click in this repo to successfully reinstall Compiz:
Index of /repositories/X11:/Compiz/openSUSE_11.1
-docarockus
What error(s) do you get when it crashes?
