Compiz Effects

I have installed Compiz and Compiz Fusion and many of the
effects work except for the opening and closing windows effects.
The minimize effect works find. I have set the Open Window and Close Window effects to Magic Lamp in simple-ccsm but nothing happens when windows are opened or closed.

Hi, have you tried using the full CompizConfig Settings Manager (CCSM)? There are a lot more option in there than in the simple ccsm.

And also, just to make sure all your packages are installed correctly, could you please open a terminal and provide the output of:

rpm -qa --last "*compiz*"

Take Care,

Ian

The open and close effects are also set in ccsm.
Here is the output for “rpm -qa --last “compiz””:

I have a group project coming up so I’ll help when I get back, sorry. The only thing I can recommend right now is to reinstall compiz-plugins-main.

Take Care,

Ian

I have reinstalled all of Compiz and nothing has changed. Also, when I installed it again, all of my old settings were still there. Also, I am running KDE 4.3.1 with OpenSuse 11.1. My graphics card model is GeForce 6150 LE/PCI/SSE2/3DNOW! by Nvidia. My graphics driver is 2.1.2 NVIDIA 185.18.36. I am using Emerald as the window decorator.

Try deleting your compiz configuration folder then re-adding all your settings. To do this first make sure Kwin is set as your Window manager. Then open up dolphin and navigate to your home folder. Click view then click the option show hidden files. Look for the folder called .config. Click into that and remove the compiz folder. Redo all your settings, then make compiz your window manager again by going to Configure Desktop (Personal Settings). Click Default Applications. Go to Window Manager and choose Use a different Window Manager. Choose Compiz (not compiz custom) then hit apply. You should be good to go then.

Take Care,

Ian

I do not have this problem anymore. My OpenSuse installation ended up getting really messed up somehow so I reinstalled OpenSuse 11.1 with KDE 4.3.2. Now everything is good. Thanks anyway for the help.
