compiz 0.8.4 missing some plugins

Hello,
I have a done very few posts since I am with OpenSuse 11.1.
I have upgraded to Gnome 2.6 and use compiz-fusion from X11:XGL repo.
For a while (I don’t know how long), I don’t see the expo, applicaiton ring/cover switcher,etc…

Other plugins work with no problem.

As you can see, I have installed all packages necessary:

S | Name | Summary | Type
–±----------------------------------±--------------------------------------------------------------------±----------
i | Compiz-Gnome | Installs Compiz, Fusion plugins, settings manager and gnome decor-> | pattern

i | compiz | OpenGL window and compositing manager. | package
i | compiz | compiz: Collective fixes for compiz | patch

i | compiz-branding-openSUSE | OpenGL window and compositing manager. | package

i | compiz-emerald | Themeable window decorator for Compiz | package

i | compiz-emerald-themes | Theme files for Emerald, window decorator for Compiz | package

i | compiz-gnome | OpenGL window and compositing manager configuration utilities | package

i | compiz-manager | A wrapper script to launch Compiz with proper options | package

i | compiz-plugins-extra | Compiz-Fusion community extra plugins | package

i | compiz-plugins-main | Compiz-Fusion community main plugins | package

i | compizconfig-settings-manager | Settings Manager for Compiz (CCSM) | package

i | libcompizconfig | CompizConfig plugin(ccp) required for compizconfig-settings-manag-> | package

i | libcompizconfig-backend-gconf | This package contains gconf backend for Compizconfig-settings-man-> | package

i | python-compizconfig | Python bindings for libraries/plugins for compizconfig-settings | package

Does anyone had the same problem or might know a solution?

Cheers,

-John

I have the same issue… no idea why either.

Hmm, try this as root:
#zypper in compiz-fusion-plugins-main compiz-fusion-plugins-extra

I know these install 0.7.8 versions, but bare with me.
Now load ‘ccsm’ and you can see the ring switcher plugin is available, but when you toggle it on, it’ll toggle itself back off because of the wrong version.

Hmm. Something out of sync, and I think only the maintainer can help… :frowning:

Run:
#zypper rm compiz-fusion-plugins-extra compiz-fusion-plugins-main
to remove these broken packages again.

I’ve logged https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=563961 if you want to comment/vote there.

Hi chiveront,
I have tried it and the same thing as you described.
I will have a look in bugzilla.
Thanks a bunch.

John

I have reinstall compiz from X11:XGL repo with the following:

compiz-0.8.4-125.1
compiz-branding-openSUSE-0.8.4-125.1
compizconfig-settings-manager-0.8.4-3.1
compiz-emerald-0.8.4-1.2
compiz-emerald-themes-0.6.0-2.2
compiz-gnome-0.8.4-125.1
compiz-manager-0.6.0-3.1
compiz-plugins-extra-0.8.4-100.4
compiz-plugins-main-0.8.4-101.2
libcompizconfig-0.8.4-2.1
python-compizconfig-0.8.4-2.1

Now, I get the expo wall, cover/ring switcher, etc…
From bugzilla, it seems that X11:XGL wouldn’t be supported anymore for OpenSuse 11.1, if I understood correctly :frowning:

I might start reading about 11.2 users’ comments

Thanks alot for your helps.

John

In 11.2 (and 11.3) KDE4 is the the default KDE version, and it’s own version of Compiz is built in.

I’m using KDE4 at home on Ubuntu, and it’s stable enough to use now.
