compiling gnu glib configure errors

What do I need to install to get this compile? It should allow me to run with a required - (backward compatable?)
./nwmain-linux: /lib64/libm.so.6: version `GLIBC_2.27’ not found (required by ./nwmain-linux)

GNUmake isn’t in the yast packages. ‘make’ is there.

If I am reading that correctly, you are missing “bison”.

Checking here, “bison” is installed (that’s Leap 15.2). I seem to recall noticing a recent bison update in Tumbleweed.

I’m not sure what you are currently running. For me “bison” was pulled in when I installed the base development pattern.

Running what? OS, hardware, etc.

I’v decided to use version GL3.2, since it’s the latest version. Currently, i’m using the laptop. for this post. The other is in use.

(adding one makeinfo package)

Installing the package with ‘makeinfo’ is a 1-2 gig install. So, I canceled it.

Then, I found the ‘–prefix=/folder’ on an internet search. So, I did this command.

The make completed. Where are the bin files? Assuming, I compiled the right version?

Specifically, the missing library. I’v never successfully completed a system library compile before. So, I’m new at this.

Normally, at that stage, you would use:

make install

to install the software that you built.

Or you can use:

make -n install

to just see what an install will do. That will probably give you the information on where the binaries are.

Did internet searches and I’m still stuck. Need help…

Still stuck, I’m unable to go any further. Unless someone can help me, I’m just going to add ubuntu to grub. And maybe switch to it later.

normally you do
> ./configure --prefix=/place/you/install/to (I usually use /usr/local/)
> make
> make check
> make all install

The last “make all install” will place the built code into the directory: " /place/you/install/to "

When I do, say, netcdf3.6.3, that’s /usr/local/netcdf363

I gave up and deleted everything. I’ll need to start over again on compiling and reading the messages.
