Hello,
I’m new user to Ubuntu, and I found some problems with the compatibility of my graphic Card.
I’m thinking about moving to OpenSUSE, but I want to be sure that I will not have any compatibility problem.
Can anybody tell me if this will be compatible ?
My PC:
Processor: AMD Athlon™ 64 Processor 3000+
(L1 Cache 128KiB; L2 Cache 512KiB)
Graphic Card: AGP Ati Radeon HD 4650 (XFX)
RAM: 2GiB
No available info in that link, but it’s what I was looking for
Only one more question. If I download the live CD and when I try it, my graphic card is well recognised and working completely it would mean that it’s compatible and I won’t have any problem… ¿right?
Thanks! (And I’m sorry for my english, I’m spanish)
It means it works on the open source drivers. If you want full 3D support you need the drivers provided by ATI. If you don’t see/have any problem at all, leave it like this.
If it works, don’t touch it.
I’m now, (how I said) in ubuntu, and I can get my Ati working with the open source drivers. By the way I feel the system very “slowly” and laggy when using the graphic card more than usual (watching a movie in full screen mode, or when I set a screensaver,…).
I tryed with the privative drivers, but the thing gets worse! :S I start getting problems while surfing webpages (is like scrolling was veeery slow and it freezes for a while, and the movies and screensavers can’t even be watched… it becomes impossible)
(Another time I tell you sorry about my english :$)
So, there’s any possibilitie for me in a linux world with this graphic card… right ? What a disappointment!
