compat-wireless broken

Hello, as you probably know, compat-wireless-* packages are broken, so lot of users are having problems with their wireless, specially those owning an ath9k, a very common wifi card mounted on netbooks.

Can someone contact the authors or tell me how can I reach them?

Thanks.

Hi
My ASUS 1000HE netbook uses ath9k and works fine without any user manual
intervention.

and don’t you experiment these things? :

  • 1Mbit limit of transfence.
  • Frecuent loose of connection
  • Problems when resuming.

Hi
Ummm, yes, through betas and RC’s.

I get full speed, no loss of connection and sometimes it plays up from
resume, but fn+wireless off/on brings it back to life.

I’ve been having problems with this. I’m using an AR928X card with ath9k and experience regular requests to re-enter the passphrase for my network. It never works and the only way to get the network running is to reboot. Before you ask - the passphrase is correct!

I’ve tried to use compat-wireless but cannot get it to install. I’ve also tried the link for the updated ath9k driver but cannot get that to work either.

It’s pretty frustrating as I can be on-line for hours without a problem, whilst at other times failure is much faster.

Has anyone any step-by-step instructions for diagnosing or repairing?

“I cannot get that to work” is not very specific.

There are no ath9k experts on this list. You can reach them at
linux-wireless@vger.kernel.org, but unless you give much more specific and
detailed information, they will ignore you.
