Compaq Presario CQ61-110EI Screen Resolution

Hi

I recently installed openSUSE 11.1 on a friend of mine’s laptop. It had Vista on before, and displayed everything at a decent screen resolution (not sure, but my guesses would be somethingx1024). Now, however, in openSUSE, it only displays it at 800x600. I tried changing it at the right-click menu (I think - it’s the simpler one (not YaST)) but I think it only had the option of 800x600. When I tried in YaST, it had more options, but when I select a different resolution it doesn’t change. It says it’s something else, but you can see it’s still 800x600. Can someone help me out? She has an Intel graphics card (I believe it’s a Mobile Intel 4 Series Express Chipset Family Graphics card). Maybe there’s a Linux driver for it somewhere?

Thanx for all your hard effort in tending problems like mine.

What does Yast or sax2 say the driver is that it is using?

and also can you run :

lspci -vv

That is 2 v`s not a big W

in a console and cut and paste anything to do with the graphics card, the
command will list the hardware and other info, the more “v”`s you put the
more verbose info so 2 should do
