Dear All,
I was using the Compaq CQ57 notebook (there is also a sub number but it is not known) with Windows 7 Ultimate, but I decided to quit Windows and formatted the computer, and installed OpenSUSE 12.1 with KDE environment. When I was using with Windows, there were not problems with the wireless card; it was capable of receiving signals from two rooms apart. Now, however, I could only use the notebook with wireless in the very room where the wireless modem is. So we can conclude that I have a problem with signal strength. I have found a website with the Windows 7 driver at Broadcom driver for Win7/ and heard something like ndiswrapper. What are your suggestions? The wiki page at Ndiswrapper page is not helping much, I am awaiting your help. If you need any additional info, please post and I will try to find.
Thank you.

Please post the output of this command to tell us what wireless card
You’ve got and what driver You’re using :
/sbin/lspci -nnk
Ndiswrapper is useless in most cases. Most likely the problem You’ve
encountered is a buggy linux driver. Depending on the exact
hardware/driver combo installing a newer kernel might help. Other than
that most likely there is not much more You can do other than going back
to Windows.
