Commands go on reducing Automatically

Hello All,

I am working with Open Suse 10.2.
I have a problem with the set of commands available with me.By pressing
TAB key twice we can know the nos of commands available right !!
2 days back it showed me 5545 and today it is showing me 5525.
Few days back I tried with “Hier” command which shows the hierarchy of
file structure. BUt today it is not present. This confirmed my doubt that
they are getting vanished. Can any one please tell me what is happening.
Thankyou,

BR,
Sagar kadam

Apparently somebody either removed the command from the system (or at
least from where it can be executed), you changed users, or the $PATH
has been modified and doesn’t point to where ‘Hier’ exists anymore. So,
what did it come with? Where did it go? What has changed and who has
access to change it?

Good luck.

There aren’t many options. If a command cannot be run then either it
doesn’t exist or it can’t be found. I suppose it could be permissions
as well… if your current user does not have permissions to execute
the file (via the execute bit) it also will not show up. Also keep in
mind that if you hit tab twice and you are just completing files in
general and so the directory you are in will matter significantly.

Good luck.
