Commander Stalin Compiling the source

Hi guys, girls and wise Penguins!

OpenSuse 11.3
Commander Stalin
I downloaded the Linux version
Download Gnu/Linux - 222 MB
and unzipped it

There is one executable file namely cstalin but when I click on it, nothing happens.

So either I need to do something more before I can run the game. There are no installation instructions on the website, which leads me to believe that it is unzip and play.

SO now I want to try and compile the game and see if that helps. But U have no idea how!

I downloaded the source from Download Sources - 142 MB

So what do I do now?
Please be gentle, please be kind to this newbie heart of mine!

J

PS I am not sure if this is the correct board.

Please post the error you get when you try to run it from the terminal .
i get this

 ./cstalin
./cstalin: error while loading shared libraries: libpng12.so.0: wrong ELF class: ELFCLASS64

it is because libpng 14 is the default and not 12

From the terminal

If 'cstalin' is not a typo you can use command-not-found to lookup the package that contains it, like this:
    cnf cstalin

Any idea why clicking the icon via Dolphin or Konqueror doesnt work?

with out seeing the error ???

Like I mentioned in the first post, nothing happens.
Nothing like in absolutely nothing. No error message or anything at all.
Sorry!

Honestly: such games should not run anyway. “Commander Stalin”, gosh… this is just disgusting.

A) why should they not run?
b)What is the game about?

ClrScr, you provided a link to that game in your first post. If you do not know who Josef Stalin was, read the respective →Wikipedia-article to get an idea about him.

In short: Stalin was a cruel dictator disguised as a communist.

Hi All
With reference to the thread subject and following discussion with my fellow moderators the above three posts have been reinstated.

That being said, we as in the openSUSE forum have no control over the ‘politically incorrect’ name that a developer may give their ‘game’. Therefore please refrain from any more posts asking/responding/assessing “the political correctness” of the game title.
