codec problem

hav recently installed os11.0
i want to play avi files…but hav no particular codecs…so dloaded dem n copied to /usr/local/lib/codecs/ as per some instructions given in dloadin site…
even now i cant play ny of my avi files…

tried installin vlc but it says dependency prob…n now its tellin repo exception…
someone plz help me out

try doing the 1-click install boogie from here Restricted Formats/11.0 - openSUSE-Community click on the one for your desktop environment

how to make my codecs work

There are quite a bit of files you have to download. Plus there are also a whole bunch of dependencies. Best thing to do is connect it temporarily and get it through yast.

… you will need to go to an internet cafe (or to a friends place, where the friend has internet access, or to another PC at home that has internet access) with a USB stick to download the package, … and then take it back to your PC.

you have laptop. goto cafe with your laptop, connect it to network(automatically it will connect), then go and install this codec.

you must be able to use your network, linux finds network configurations automatically :wink:
