I have been trying to install code blocks on opensuse 12.1 but only get fails saying dependency fails… nothing provides libcodeblocks and like that.
Then I went and try install wxGTK (because I read something about it as necessary for codeblocks) but when installing wxGTK I also get dependency failed, nothing provides wxBase…
All codeblocks and wxgtw were downloaded from software.opensuse.org. I took care of selecting packages for suse 12.1 64 bits which is what I have.
Any suggestion is appreciated. I need CodeBlocks for compile some school assignments.
Thanks

openSUSE 12.1 is no longer “supported” . Switch to any later version of
openSUSE.
–
GNOME 3.6.2
openSUSE Release 12.3 (Dartmouth) 64-bit
Kernel Linux 3.7.10-1.16-desktop
Thanks for your advice… mmmm, not sure what do you mean by no longer supported… I installed 12.1 just a couple of months ago and it is what was provided by opensuse download page (not my choice). I hate have to go back to MSN to use codeblocks on XP or 7, (which by now I have up and running)…

Yes 12.1 was supported until may something this
year.(https://en.opensuse.org/Lifetime)
Google/search engine might have redirected you to older version of openSUSE.
Each version has a different download url
http://software.opensuse.org/121/en
http://software.opensuse.org/122/en
http://software.opensuse.org/123/en
But http://software.opensuse.org/ will always take you to
latest version which is now 12.3
For support information look at https://en.opensuse.org/Lifetime
Each openSUSE version is typically supported for 18 months . But some
versions like 11.4 and the next version 13.1 will be supported for 3 to
4 years. For example 11.4 normal support was 10th of March 2011 to
November 5th 2012 (19 months) but it is given extended support through
evergreen project (November 5th 2012 to July 2014) another 18 months or
so https://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Evergreen
I would recommend backing up all your data etc and then download 12.3
cd or dvd ISOs as 12.3 is going to supported until openSUSE 12.3 - Sep
15th 2014
I tried installing codeblocks after reading your thread and i was able
to install it successfully on 12.3 using url
http://software.opensuse.org/package/codeblocks
you must remember to install compiler package (gcc) before starting
codeblocks(IDE/Integrated Desktop environment)
It is difficult to install any software in Linux offline because :-
