CODE tags

There’s already a tooltip on the quote button which says Wrap QUOTE tags around selected text. Why not the same for a code button?

What makes me lol! is the Insert video button next to it. As if I will use that often. Riiight.

DenverD;

Just another advantage of using nntp. I had replied to a later thread by the
same OP and it was still in my “sent” box. As to your second point, it
rings familiar, perhaps by more than one poster.

With the purpose of this thread being to discuss ways to simplify and encourage the use of CODE tags for new users,
Where the apparently simple answer may include adding a code (#) button to the basic editor,
There could easily be complications in implementing changes like that, which are not obvious.
And opinions on the usefulness of any such changes naturally vary.

This recent guide Posting in Code Tags by caf4926 does much to address the issues mentioned in this thread, Thanks Carl.
It would be nice to see this guide linked to in many situations where a new user is asked to supply info from the CLI.

Hopefully it will prove useful.
All we can do is refer folks to it when necessary, it will gain notoriety with use. I know some of my guides have found their way in to many other websites /blogs.

Hopefully it will prove useful.
I believe it already has, in a number of cases.

All we can do is refer folks to it when necessary,
I, for one, will be doing exactly that, The more that do the same, the better.
