Where did you download what, exactly? And why don’t you just use the acroread Yast offers you?
Uwe
Thanks for your interest. The only pdf reader with 10.3 seems to be Evince, which i’m having problems getting it to fit page width.
I have dl Adobe acrobat reader from their website and it is now in /tmp as a tar. I would like this app to function so i can read my Linnux for dummies and learn, for instance, how to install.
The Reader from Adobe’s website is an rpm, isn’t it? Just click the file and an installer should open. But that method has at least one big shortcoming: There will be no automatic updates available. Just like buckesfeld, I recommend installation via the package management (e.g. Yast or zypper).
EDIT:
In 10.3 the package is called “acroread”. Just search for it in Yast or webpin (http://packages.opensuse-community.org/) and you’ll be fine. The installation from tar.gz you downloaded requires that you compile the software. That means you will need additional packages.
Evince is not the only pdf reader available for 10.3. There are at least Kpdf and Okular.
Prob solved. thanks
