Clock in OpenSuse 11 showing military time

This isn’t the hugest deal in the world but don’t seem to be able to change it. Suse is showing the time in the KDE Desktop is showing in military time. Strange phenomenon is that my pc is dual booted with the 64 bit version of Vista and Vista is doing the same thing. Not sure if I have to change a software or hardware setting if I want regular non military time. The windows xp virtual machine on this desktop has regual time

Obviously your desktop has been invaded. :stuck_out_tongue:

Seriously, try Start > Applications > Configure Desktop > Region and language > Date and Time

  • bperrotta,

military time? You mean “1300” instead of “13:00” or 1:00 pm" or some such?

Yes that was it. the above post seemed to work it appended an am to it now. All i can ask is after 11 revisions why are some things in Suse still buggy. Literally I have just switched from windows and this is the first time I’m using Linux solely because it is the first time all my hardware is detecting. but still have the dual boot for windows games. Suse 10.3 wouldn’t recognize my soundcard. And I had an old crummy lexmark i replaced with an hp 1400. After hours of fighting everything works now. When i changed the time though i lost all my codecs mp3 and divix because amarok said it didn’t have the license. I rebooted twice after resetting the time and now everything works again. I’m sure something weird like that could happen in windows but usually not.

also this stupid java error in lime wire libxcb: WARNING! Program tries to unlock a connection without having acquired
a lock first, which indicates a programming error.
There will be no further warnings about this issue.
libxcb: WARNING! Program tries to lock an already locked connection,

Which no one seems to have the answer to. Because of it limewire plays mp3s sometimes and sometimes doesn’t. I work around it when mp3s won’t play by linking the limewire folder to Amarok to play them there instead when this happens. The downloads always work though. but the limewire update feature won’t.

In my opinion Opensuse 11.0 is great. And it’s steadilly improving by distro. I’ll make it my main desktop now but I am a Netadmin. It’s still to buggy for the average end user.
I also thing they should try make everything to be installed an rpm to avoid compiling. and try to get licenses to preinstall the codecs. Asus has done a good job with the preinstalled xandros laptop. Would be nice to see preinstalled Suse Desktops and laptops being sold in any J&R or Best Buy.
