Clock always one hour forward after boot

Hello,

I installed OpenSuse in a GMT area and the clock was OK (I have it synchronised via ntp). Now I am a week in a CET area and the clock is always an hour forward when booting.

I have the hardware clock to local time (and so configured Yast), I changed the time zone in Yast to CET and, if I click on “synchronise now”, the time is corrected. But after rebooting, the clock is one hour forward, although Yast is still configured in the CET time.

By the way, if I remember correctly, if I do not correct the clock and reboot again, it advances another hour, so after four reboots without correcting the time, I would have the clock four hours forward!

I tried making hwclock --systohc , it gave no problems, but it did not solve the subject at all.

Thank you very much in advance.

Do you use another OS. Eg: Windows
In the Yast setting for Time is UTC checked?

Yes, I also have Windows installed, but I have not booted it for several days. Anyway, Windows operates in local time so it should not interfere, should it?

In Yast, the box for “hardware clock set to UTC” is not ticked.

Should I submit a bug?

Thank you.

I’m guessing there is something I am missing. I never have a problem with this myself. I guess you are using 11.1?

Thank you. I am using Factory, I have not upgraded for one week (I am away from home), so I must be in an intermediate point between Milestones 7 and 8 of OpenSuse 11.2.

Hi
Ahhh that helps!! run mkinitrd as root user and reboot.

run mkinitrd as root user and reboot.

Thank you! That solved the issue! May I ask the reasons behind this fix?

And, is that issue a bug?

Hi
Since your using 11.2 (beta) if you looked in the prerelease-beta
subforum it’s a know issue (bug) fixed (hmm a work around IMHO) in M8.

If you having issues with 11.2 you need to post there rather than the
general forums which are really for release versions
