claws-mail-= no print or bogofilter

Hi
just started using suse, so a few questions
claws-mail 3.7.5, I have no print capabilities, there is no print icon showing, also the spam filter is greyed out.
I have loaded bogofilter, but I noticed the amount of rpms listed is much less than my last distro, including the advanced filtering.
Are these rpms on another repo somewhere.

thanks
Richard

Hi
Install and run spamassassin. Configuration->Preferences to add the
printer icon to the main toolbar…

Hi again

The is no printer icon on the prefs> toolbars>main window.
All the plugins on the claws site are for 3.7.6 min, this is an older version 3.7.5 I have.
Not having use spamassassin before , is that run externally to the mailer ?
Also just found updatedb is not recgonised in suse :frowning: and slocate or mlocate not listed in the rpm data base). find is as friendly as a porcupine.

Would it be easier just to uninstall the version supplied and download a tar ball ? to fix claws mail, or is 3.7.6 in a devel repo ?, is there a backports repo in suse I can download it from ?

You may need to add, select ‘Event Executed on click’ on the right and add.

Yes use YaST and search on spamassassin and install. You then need to activate the service, YaST runlevel editor.

Got the spam sorted with bogofilter, could have use spamassasin . the plugin wasn’t loaded.
There is still no print icon showing in the toolbars menu.

On the other thread , adding another user , had to use yast as for some reason “adduser” is not recognized on CLI
Gnome desktop as expected. Still no “more applications” that causes it to hang when clicked on the second user.

Something is a bit screwed on the install. Which of the hidden files in in my home dir do I need to remove to force gnome to reload the desktop and applets.
Or shall remove all except .claws and .mozilla and reboot / reinstall . there must be one of the hidden files which has screwed up the install.

cheers

Hi
Something does sound funny. Do you have a local mail directory as well?

What I would do is logout, then press alt+ctrl+F1 and login as your
root user and cd /home then mv <username> backup_<username> then
reboot/reinstall.

Else if your happy with just claws and mozilla…

Hi
One fresh install later, I copied all the directories to the second user, but on a fresh boot after the install, gnome panel with all the normal appletts and the applications menu was there as well. Also there were 67 updates to download as well. having some system files from another distro screwed the initial install.
I suspect the problem with DVB-T on kaffeine will still need to be sorted as will the scanner.

Install it

You can find it using “zypper se locate”, for example.

3.7.6 can be found on packman. You just have to use the software search
feature in the web page to find a repo that contains the package you want.

It is useradd here.

cer@Telcontar:~> ls .gnome[tab][tab]
…gnome/ .gnome-commander/ .gnome2/ .gnome2_private/
…gnome_private/

Some of those will do.

That explains a few things

Running claws 3.7.6 now and still no print function.
I think the way Suse handles printing is slightly different, instead of passing the print job through the DM its passed directly to cups, but even if I;'m right it should still print to a file… very strange

After a goods nights sleep , I’ve got the print sorted as well.
just leaves a silly little problem, like there’s no printer icon in the icons list in claws.

this thread can be closed as fixed

Thanks
Richard

Hi Richard;

I’ve got 3.7.6 and control-P brings up the printer dialog, don’t know if that will work with 3.7.5 though. Just for information, there is no printer icon available in 3.7.6 either. May need special compilation.
