Cisco OpenConnect VPN Client

Hi,
I just installed OpenSUSE- 64bit and I need to connect to our **VPN by Cisco OpenConnect **VPN client.
Problem is that this client is 32 bit and it refuses to install on 64bit OpenSUSE.
Any suggestions how to overcome this problem?

sorry, but i’ve never heard of a 32 bit program that “refuses to
install” on any 64 bit linux system…therefore i have to suspect
there is more going on here, like:

  1. are you having any other problems with your openSUSE?

  2. what version is it?

  3. did you do this prior to install: http://tinyurl.com/2ebcf27 (i’m
    thinking maybe your install was damaged from the gItgo, or since)

and, if you have a good install then:

  1. what does the cisco documentation mention about software
    requirements? that is a lot of those kinds of ‘enterprise’ level clients
    are “certified” against certain versions of certain distributions…and,
    the will NOT (normally) run effortlessly on newer or version or kernels…

  2. if it is not an openSUSE problem, then what do the cisco
    helper/forums have to say?

check those kinda things and then post again if you needed…

when/if you post again, fully describe “refuses to install”
what happens?
does it pop up an error message?
show us a screen shot of that…or, at least quote it!
and, explain how the cisco documentation instructed you to install, and
what then happened which was not as that documentation told you to
expect…etc…

OpenSuSE should include the open source OpenConnect VPN client included as standard. Does it not work for you?

Note that if you are using KDE, you have to use OpenConnect from the command line rather than from NetworkManager.
This is KDE bug #226028: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=226028 — if you need it in OpenSuSE, I’d recommend filing a bug in SuSE bugzilla and referencing that upstream bug.

It works seamlessly from GNOME with NetworkManager.

See bug #729095. OpenConnect itself is present in openSuSE 12.1 but the NetworkManager part is absent for some reason. Hopefully this can be fixed (including in KDE, which works fine now with NetworkManager-openconnect in other distros) before the final release.
